Chamber of Trikala President Vasilis Giagiakos writes about his vision for Meteorisimo.
It all started back in 2004, when I assumed the presidency of the Chamber of Trikala. One of the motions I made with utmost priority was to showcase and give prominence to the rich gastronomy of Trikala.
The term “gastronomy” was mostly unheard of in those days. However, patience and convincing arguments clarified the importance and the efficiency of this endeavor : the decisive contribution of local cuisine to both the promotion of regional products and the improvement of tourism in our area.
Early in 2005 we found “TRIKALINI GEFSI Inc.” in conjunction with food and beverage professionals with the aim of conserving and showcasing the traditional cuisine of Trikala. We actualized a series of multilevel actions over the last 16 years, culminating in the creation of “METEORISIMO”.
In this way, local gastronomy has its own brand name, METEORISIMO, connecting our gastronomical culture with local products and modern gastronomy, aiding the creation of a new gastronomic identity for the region which is inseparably linked to the monastic community of Meteora and its cuisine.
